The Travel Guide: Mallorca

The Travel Guide: Mallorca

We couldn't create a drink inspired by the Mediterranean and not give you a guide on the best places to visit.

We are kicking off this collection with advice from our founder Fran. Having grown up in Mallorca and first discovering her love for Iced Tea there it was only right we let her have this one! Here is what she had to say:

'I may be biased with this one but Mallorca is one of my favourite places in Europe. I have been lucky enough to go travelling round Europe when I finished school and although a lot of places could come a close second, Mallorca is still firmly in first place.'

Best Places To Stay:

Although I haven't personally stayed in a hotel in Mallorca, i've done plenty of research for you and even visited a few.

For a quiet escape:

La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel

This hotel is situated in Deia, a stunning village in the north west. It is decorated in traditional Mallorcan decor and has tennis courts, two pools, complimentary boat trips and two restaurants.

Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa

Along with the Residencia; this hotel is perfect for couples wanting a relaxing break. With three restaurants to choose from, a spa and infinity pool with amazing views you can't go wrong. Valdemossa, one of the prettiest villages in mallorca is only a 20 minute drive and Port Soller has a varied selection of restaurants.

Can Ferrereta

This hotel is located in the south east, in the quiet town of Santanyi; which is close to a few of the top beaches in Mallorca. The townhouse has a spa, courtyard restaurant and a peaceful pool.

Close to Palma:

Iberostar Selection Llaut Palma

Set one town over from Palma, this hotel has a large pool, sun deck and two restaurants. With the Asian Fusion and Teppanyaki restaurant on the top floor you can enjoy stunning views over the sea and enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sunset.

Melia Palma Marina

This recently refurbished hotel is in a perfect location with views over the port of Palma!

Resort Stays:

Zafiro Palace PalmaNova

Looking for a busy resort for you and your friends or family? This hotel is only a 500 yard walk to the beach, less than a mile from Magaluf and close to a range of tourist attractions to keep you busy.

Elba Sunset Mallorca

Another hotel situated in Palmanova. A short walk to the beach, lots of restaurants and not far from Magaluf strip if you want a boozy holiday!

Frans Favourite Restaurants:

Vandal Palma

With a quirky a la carte menu and amazing cocktails, Vandal is a must visit. It might not look like much outside but inside it is well decorated and perfect for a date night.

Mar Chica

One of my favourite restaurants in Palma. If you are a sushi lover this is a must try.

Siso Beach

If you are staying in Magaluf or Palmanova Siso is ideal. Located right next to the beach and serving cocktails and a varied menu you can't go wrong.

Ombu Tapas

You can't go to Spain and not have a tapas night. Located in the centre of Palma this place is great for either lunch or dinner.

Best Beaches:

Calo des Moro

Close to Santanyi and can only be reached on foot. This beach is tiny but the colour of the sea makes up for it!

Es Trenc

Located in the south east; this 2km long beach is remote and has crystal clear water.

Cala Llombards

Close to Calo des Moro this cove has a bar, sun loungers and is bordered by cliffs.

Camp De Mar

You might recognise this beach in Netflix's White Lines and has a restaurant set in the sea.

Playa de Formentor

In the north of the island this beach has beautiful mountain views!

Must Visit:

Valdemossa

Located in the Tramuntana Mountains, Valdemossa is a quiet village filled with shops and cafes. If you fancy a day exploring I definitely recommend driving the Tramuntana road and checking out some of the other villages too.

Palma

You can't go to Mallorca and not visit the city. With hundreds of amazing restaurants, pretty streets, a port and a cathedral; Palma is one of my favourite European cities.

Puerto Portals

For dinner and cocktails you have to visit Puerto Portals. One of the trendiest ports in Mallorca where the super yachts regularly visit and bars stay open late.

Cap de Formentor

If you are a sunset lover like me you have to head to Cap de Formentor. One of the best places to watch the sunset with uninterrupted views.
